A series of large-scale orienteering events and championships were successfully conducted across Maharashtra and Goa during November and December 2025, highlighting the growing enthusiasm for outdoor education and experiential learning among schools. These events brought together students, teachers, and parents, creating a vibrant platform that blended physical fitness, mental agility, and real-world problem-solving.

The events witnessed participation from over 2,000 students across different age groups and grade levels. Schools that actively took part included Atma Malik International School (CBSE), Atma Malik Senior Secondary High School (SSC), GAET International School, KIS IGCSE School Bhayander, Santa Cruz High School, The King’s School, Dr. K. B. Hedgewar High School, St. Rita’s High School, and Santa Cruz Higher Secondary School, among others.

Designed thoughtfully to suit varying age categories, the orienteering courses challenged participants to navigate using maps, checkpoints, and directional clues within safe and supervised environments. For many students, this was a first exposure to structured navigation activities, making the experience both exciting and educational. The use of simplified maps and guided support helped build confidence while encouraging independence and curiosity.

Beyond student participation, teachers and parents also actively joined special orienteering segments, adding a unique dimension of community involvement. Their involvement fostered encouragement, teamwork, and a shared appreciation for fitness and outdoor learning, strengthening the bond between schools and families.

The Goa Region Orienteering Championship further elevated the spirit of the sport by bringing together 145 students from five schools, competing across multiple age categories. The championship emphasized inter-school collaboration, sportsmanship, and the importance of strategic thinking in real-time environments.

Across all venues, students demonstrated remarkable concentration, endurance, teamwork, and leadership. The events played a significant role in developing essential life skills such as decision-making, time management, resilience, spatial awareness, and self-discipline. Teachers and coordinators ensured smooth execution, safety, and motivation throughout the activities.

These orienteering initiatives reflect a strong commitment by participating schools to holistic education, encouraging learning beyond classrooms and textbooks. The collective success of these events stands as a testament to the power of outdoor education in nurturing confident, capable, and well-rounded learners.

The schools extend heartfelt appreciation to all students, teachers, parents, volunteers, and organisers whose enthusiastic participation and dedication made these events truly memorable. Many more such enriching sporting and learning experiences are eagerly anticipated in the future.
